Week 14 Review and WEEK 15 Preview!!!!!!

Ok gang, we made it just over 100 miles this week - good job. We missed Colleen and Brian this week, but we have one more week! Our goal for this final week is to smash the 86miles we have left and to try to have everybody end with at least 16 miles. Do you think we can do it?
This is the last week to encourage, trash talk, whatever before the DFC comes to an end and we can all start prepping for a big bash in DR! So let's finish our challenge with a big bang.

Week 13 in Review and Week 14 Goals

13 must be an unlucky number as it was one of our lowest for the challenge, but we did make it under 200 miles! That's impressive. Hopefully those that are sick are better and those that have had other things take up our time (ie kids not sleeping through the night, waking up too early, work etc) will have a more cooperative work for working out.

WOW has been awarded.

For Week 14 I say we just give it all we got. I really think if everyone has a great week this week, we could possibly reach our goal. It'd be a team personal record for the most mileage. It is a lofty goal and we'd finish one week ahead of schedule, but we are so close....So get out and walk, run, bike, lift weights, shred, zumba as much as you can this week!  It's almost time to enjoy all our hard work by enjoying some drinks on the beach and cheering on Brian and Colleen for their getting hitched ceremony.

Week 11 Review and Week 12 Challenge!

So the winner is...... Team R2K! And they are this week's WOW!
Rory, Ryan, and Kelly: Be sure to talk to each other on how you want to pick out the trucker hats. Kelly has offered to pick some up. Or you could pick ones out for the person you were against.

Everyone is much improved in getting in time working out this past week. Great job!!!
I'm going to say we only have 4 weeks left until this Fitness challenge is over. So we'll have almost 2 full weeks before the wedding to pack, plan etc. So our last week will be April 10.

Week 12 Challenge
If you are up for another challenge:
This week will be all about TIME. Let's see who can put in the most time working out. So make sure you have your stopwatch on your runs, bikes, weight lifting, hikes, dog walking, zumba etc! It is going to be a blind challenge as well. I will update mid-week the times and then again either Sat or Sun. You won't have access to the google spreadsheet to cheat either.  Just round your time to the nearest 15min.
Whoever logs the most time this week will be the WOW for Week 12.
If you need additional motivation, feel free bet against a fellow superhero this week and estimate how many more minutes you can beat them by.

Week 11 Challenge

Challenge for Week 11

  1. Another group challenge: Team BCM: Brian, Colleen, and Melissa,           Team R2K: Ryan, Rory, and Kelly (suggest a team name if you'd like)
  2. To win this challenge your team needs to score at least 2 points.
  3. To earn a point a member on your team must exceed the total week's mileage of her/his opponent that she/he is paired up against.
  4. Match-ups: Brian vs. Ryan, Colleen vs Rory, Melissa vs. Kelly
  5. No maximum on bike mileage for this challenge.
  6. The winning team will be the W.O.W for the week and the losers will be wearing trucker's hats of the winners' choosing. (If winners need help getting the hat to DR let us know). Hats will be worn for an hour in Dominican Republic.
  7. Jeanette will be the referee for this challenge.

For example if Brian logs 45miles for the week and Ryan logs 44miles, Brian would earn 1 point for his team.  If you would not like participate in this week's challenge please let us know by the end of Monday, March 14.

Week 10 in Review

So this week was a less than stellar week for majority of our superheros. Remember, we don't want Dominican Republic to sink before we get there. Good job though on everybody working out at least once this week. Good news: we have less than 500 miles to go. No WOW was awarded this week. We've seen ourselves do better. However I do want to mention that Rory, Jeanette, and Melissa did have a good week. Rory and Jeanette getting at least the minimum and Melissa continuing to show her consistency for us through the work week working out Mon-Fri!
What are you going to do this week to achieve the goals you want to accomplish by the end of April?

Week 9 in Review

Another week gone. I have to say it was a great week for a challenge.

Team Challenge:
Team Sunpebbles:
55 miles
Team RJ: 72 miles
Team C: 52 miles
Looks like Team C will be made into a sand sculpture come the end of April! So Sunpebbles and RJ need to think of a great sculpture.

This week we did 179 miles which is great - still not a team personal record, but definitely up there as a top week. We are under 600 miles to go!

Highlights:
  • Ryan running an 8miler
  • Rory working out with reoccurance of illness again.
  • Melissa working out 6 days in a row
  • Jeanette running a 6 miler
  • Kelly getting her first mountain bike ride for the challenge
  • Colleen providing consistency and encouragement.
  • Brian exceeding the minimum mileage for the week in one day.
Something to be proud of in our 9 weeks:
Each individual total miles:
Brian - 251
Jeanette - 228
Ryan - 204
Rory - 182
Colleen - 152
Melissa - 117
Kelly (just 2 weeks for her) - 29

Feel free to set your own goals, challenges this week. We are here to help you achieve your goals you set for yourself.

Wordy Wednesday ! (3-2)

Don't want to get turned into a sand sculpture? Then you better get working out!
We have 8 weeks left, so what are you going to do for just 8 weeks to meet your goals? Run or bike 5 minutes longer each time? Drink more water? Less seconds at mealtimes? More fruits and veggies? The end is in sight! So stay focused!
Giving up is not an option!

Week 9 Challenge!

We have 8 weeks under our belt and 8 weeks left!  Before you know it, our challenge will be over.

This week I have a new challenge for us. If you are not interested please post here so we can update the challenge. No pressure, but just trying to find new ways to sweat a little more and push a little harder to get the weight off and get that beach body.

My challenge for us this week is to see who can log the most mileage with the following rules and other stuff:
  • We'll work in teams. The teams are Jeanette and Rory - Team RJ and Colleen, Melissa, and Kelly  - Team C, and Da Boyz - Brian and Ryan.
  • Each person can only count 20miles of biking toward the challenge total, but if more biking is done, the time will be counted instead of the mileage for this week's challenge. (The total mileage, however, will be counted for the overall Dominican Fitness Challenge to be add to our team's total mileage.)
  • You don't have to log the most mileage, you just don't want to be in last place.
  • This challenge is to encourage hitting the gym and getting more workouts this week.
  • The losing team will be part of a sand sculpture of the other teams choosing and building with picture taking included. (unless there is another suggestion - feel free) - About an hour time frame given to build the sculpture and pictures.

Week 8 in Review

This was a good week for our team. We were just short of the goal of 180miles with logging 165 miles which is still pretty good. Highlights:
  • Almost everyone logging at least 16 miles - target goal
  • Kelly having a great first week so now we know what she can do and push her :)
  • Brian and Ryan's challenge - Colleen gets the honors of fulfilling the punishment in Dominican Republic
  • Melissa working out each weekday this week!
  • Brian almost running a sub 7minute mile.
  • Jeanette working out with a cold
  • And Colleen losing almost 5lbs since mid Feb!
We have less than 800miles to go and have logged over 1000miles! Great job!

W.O.W. is awarded.

Week 7 in Review

Another week gone by and we have surpassed the halfway mileage! Way to go!
Congratulations to our Week 7 W.O.W. winner! Thanks for being a good example for the rest of us. What do you have in store for the second half of our fitness challenge?

Although this week was a mediocre week for most of us let's not forget the highlights:

  • Brian and Colleen putting in over 16miles in one day to surpass the minimum mileage for the week.
  • Melissa and Ryan walking/working out while in Florida
  • Rory biking for 15miles
  • Jeanette doing more than she did last week. Ha.ha.
So what's on tap for everyone this week - last full week of Feb? Colleen has shared her goals with us previously, anyone else? Is there going to be a wager between Brian and Ryan??? Remember to push a little harder, sweat a little more.... Do you think we can beat our 180miles we did the last week of Jan.?
We are getting close to just relaxing on the beach, drinking, eating.....

Week 5 in Review

Okay, so Jeanette had to tend to a friend in need, so I'm (Colleen) going to try to do my best to step in and total this up accurately. With some of the spreadsheet issues we were having, I could be mistaken, but I believe the totals for Week 5 were as follows:

Brian: 20
Colleen: 19
Ryan: 9
Jeanette: 18
Jonathan: 1.5
Emily: 2
Melissa: 17 (assuming the walk Thursday was hers, not Brian's)
Rory: 34!

We definitely did well this week, with 120.5 total miles posted! Nice work! And the highlights were certainly Rory's good news with weight loss and crazy number of miles, Melissa's consistency with the calistenics, and Brian pushed himself to run for 7 miles on Saturday. Let's keep it up! I know that Melissa and Jeanette have already said that they've got a busier than usual week this week, so everyone else, let's try to step in and help pitch in some extra miles for the group! Brian and I are traveling this weekend, so we'll do our best to step it up every night this week to log enough miles before we leave for WV.

Also, the W.O.W. has been announced.

Wordy Wednesday (2-02) Here's Some Inspiration!

Okay, so here's some inspiration! Even though these beach bodies might be a little out of reach for most of us, the important thing to note is how healthy they look, right? We're all getting healthier every time we exercise. And we just made it under 1200 miles! Great job everyone!

First Month is OVER and Goals for Week 5

Great week everybody! We logged a record 176 miles! As a team, it was our best week yet!  I can't tell you enough how impressed I am with every one's efforts! I hadn't heard an update yet from Rory about if she drank her minimum water everyday.....

Highlights:
  • Achieving our goals set last week (I hadn't heard an update yet from Rory about if she drank her minimum water everyday.)
  • Personal records on mileage for Brian, Jeanette,
  • Weight loss for Colleen and Brian!
  • Rory proving you aren't cursed if you are named W.O.W.
  • Ryan working out 3 times on Saturday to achieve his goal of 25 miles.
2 goals for Week 5:
  1. Come up with another personal goal that will make you sweat a little more, push you a little more, or drink/eat better than last week.
  2. In honor of April 29 - the upcoming wedding nuptials and to build some more camaraderie- I am challenging each of us to complete 4 sets of 29 of calisthenics of your choice this week. Try not to choose the easiest for you, but the one that will challenge you. Anyone game?

Week 3 in Review

As a team we racked up 123 miles!  YEAH! We are headed in the right direction again. Still slightly below the weekly goal mileage of 128, but I have a feeling WEEK 4 we'll be able to surpass this. Hopefully week 4 will be the first week were EVERYONE logs a little more hours/miles and we are all HEALTHY!! We are over 1/5 of the way to our goal!
Highlights:
  • Brian and Colleen getting healthy and jumping back in the last 2 days to log more than 16miles.
  • Colleen and Rory having a PR (personal record) for mileage logged.
  • Melissa for being consistent in her work outs even with a chaotic schedule this week.
  • Jeanette running 6miles on the treadmill. (Brian this will be you next week, right?)
  • Welcome back Jonathan and Emily!
The WOW winner is also posted. Hopefully this week's winner will show that it isn't a curse to be given such an honor. The previous 2 winners have had less than stellar weeks that followed.

Last Chance.....and beyond.....

LAST CALL for Workouts for week 3!
It was a rough week between illnesses, semester craziness, and work craziness, but we have one more day. Don't worry about the miles, just get your heart rate up, break a good sweat. Remember why you are doing what you are doing - to lose weight, get in shape, feel better.....show yourself off in Dominican Republic.....

Also seeing if you want to join with me in making a goal for next week. It can be anything you want such as trying a new exercise class, running 4miles straight, working out for an hour every other day. And maybe it also includes a food aspect - eat more fruit and veggies, eat out less, drink more water.... If you are interested just post a comment to this post so we can hold you accountable. If you are successful make sure you have a reward for yourself at the end of the week!

Week 2 in Review

2nd Week
We had a slower week this week, but we know 2 of our teammates were still under the weather so next week we should be able to get back in the 3 digits for mileage again.

This week we logged 91 miles which is almost half of what we logged last week and didn't meet the minimum mileage of 128miles. The first week we definately set the bar high and saw what we are capable of. We still are on track though for attaining our goal.

W.O.W. has been awarded for the week.

Highlights for week 2:
  • Ryan and Rory logging more mileage than their previous week.
  • Brian running 4miles straight
  • Colleen putting 2 hours in on Saturday to get 16miles for the week

A few changes....

To help me (and others checking) keep an accurate mileage I added a form titled CHECK-IN under Pages on the left. Hopefully this is easy and quick to fill out. Then you can click on the google spreadsheet under Stats of Superheros to see everyone's info. So you can fill this out now when you do a work-out or just weekly too.
Colleen or I will still post the weekly Log like this week and we can add our comments, jeers, support, complaints in the comments section there.
Make sense? Questions? Comments?
