Quote from Andy Stanley:
ReplyDeleteThere is a cumulative value to investing small amounts of time in certain activities over a long period of time.
The reason we ignore this is that there is no benefit to any single installment of time. The other reason we ignore this is that there is no immediate consequence if we skip an installment. Because there is no immediate consequence, we begin thinking that there is no benefit to making the installment to begin with.
Neglect is cumulative as well.
The sacrifice of the small deposits in any area of life is far less than what we pay at the end of a season of neglect.
There is no cumulative value to the random things we opt for over the important things.
Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity (redeeming the time)...
Ephesians 5:15,16
True, Kell. One or two misses at the gym, no big deal. Two months of misses at the gym, and I'm up 14 lbs over Thanksgiving and Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment/post Kelly.
ReplyDeleteYou worked out TWICE on TUESDAY!!! Wowsers!
I was zonked when I got home from work today. Any other day I would have vegged out on the couch, but I couldn't let my team down, so I put in the Zumba DVD. All I had in me was a good 30 minutes, but every mile counts. You may have to pick up my slack at the end of the week. Noah is having his 7th birthday party Saturday!
ReplyDeleteTight race so far.
ReplyDeleteRyan is playing defense for Team RJ!
RORY - 3 more days to stomp out the competition.
This just in, I put down 14 miles this morning and the competition is scared.
ReplyDeleteIn a related story, our team name is now Rockstars From Mars. Please adjust accordingly.
I adjusted accordingly.

ReplyDelete@Ryan. No comment since you fixed our furnace tonight.... Too bad you don't get extra mileage for being a nice guy :)
ReplyDelete@Melissa - Someone needs to slow her down this week! You are doing some serious working out.... How do you like shredding? I have a friend here trying it out.
Has anyone looked at the excursions or thinking about doing any while done in DR from the link previously sent out?
@Melissa - Go Melissa, go!
ReplyDelete@Colleen - You're our sniper, everybody better watch out come Saturday!
4 more miles this morning. A song for you this morning, http://tinyurl.com/4qdutjr
ReplyDelete30 Day Shred is INTENSE!! I have been a busy girl this week. I need to hang bikini pictures all over my house and office to keep me motivated!! Kim and I did 30 Day abs (it is really hard too!)this morning and I am sure that will be all for me this week! SHEW!! No wonder Jillian's people always win the biggest loser!
ReplyDeleteJeanette,
I looked at the Coral Reef excursion w/ kayaking, snorkeling and massage. But, I think we can do all that at the resort????? Brad and I both want to do deep sea fishing. So, maybe we can all make a plan and do something together. I just will definitely not be involved if it is one of the historical things.......not for me!!
@Ryan: Three things:
ReplyDeleteFirst, your photo link scared the crap out of me.
Second, the song is freaking awesome. Really, really good; is that a steel guitar I hear toward the end? Very cool. Thanks for sharing. So far, this is the only wedding song Brian's proposed: http://www.myspace.com/gunsnroses/music/songs/welcome-to-the-jungle-62277
And third, I'm sorry my husband-to-be avoided your calls this week. He does appreciate them, but this week was just especially hard at work. We had carpet installed and a surprise visit from the Kenworthys yesterday, so that was excusable. The rest of the week, well, that's on him, but he knows it. He's at the gym now! Yay! So at least you won't be totally by yourself.
@Ryan, Jeanette, and Melissa: Way to overacheive this week! Nice work!
@Melissa and Jeanette about the excursions: Brian's interested in ziplining, and I think deep sea fishing would be a fun group event for whoever is interested/can afford it. You're right about the snorkeling and kayaking--you can basically do those things at the resort, but they're probably not as awesome as the locals for the activities with the excursions.
@Team MKC: I'm trying to be the sniper, but I got in only 8 miles on the bike this morning. We're heading out now for a pre-planned thing, but hopefully we'll be back in enough time this evening that I can fit in one final 4-mile contribution. We'll see!
Sorry for the long post! Busy week, so I had to catch up!
I meant "locales," not locals. I'm sure the locals are awesome everywhere in the D.R.
ReplyDeleteKenworthys are playing defense for me against Team Sunpebbles. Ha.ha.
ReplyDeleteChallenge is still any team's. Come on Rory! Looking to see what you logged this week!
I thought ziplining would be super fun, but haven't read a place that said the views from ziplining were great.....What is everyone's ETA and ETD? We will be there Thurs - Mon.
8 mile run in 64 minutes, must be the tiger blood flowing through my veins.
ReplyDelete@Colleen - I thought it was mandolin but I think you are right, steel guitar.

@Ryan - Nice effin' work! ...on the run, and all week long. Thanks for keeping us afloat.
ReplyDeleteAfter a pretty tough week I decided to take a drug called "Charlie Sheen." It turns out that that shit is the real deal. All of the sudden I went from down in the dumps to "Bi-winning" whatever the heck that means. Anyway, I think I got the pouting out of my system for a while and I'm looking forward to a good exercise week.
I'm up for deep sea fishing, and zip-lining... assuming i'm sober at least two days during this trip.
ReplyDeleteDear Brian, Please be sober Friday. Your Friend, Melissa
ReplyDeleteSorry I've been incommunicado. I've been having problems with my internet connection. I also have been battling a recurrence of the evil bronchitis, so I haven't been the Rock Star my teammate has been. However, I put up a solid 28 miles.
ReplyDeleteI am flying in at about 5:30 pm on Thursday and leaving on Monday, but I am not staying at the resort on Sunday. I will be moving to a B&B in town A) because it is way cheaper and B) I will be visiting my brother and his family who are staying at the Hard Rock Casino Hotel & Resort.
What day and time is the actual wedding?? I need to schedule my spa treatment.
Something to think about for next week...Lent starts on Wednesday. So for anyone who typically gives up something for Lent (or even if you don't) it can fit in perfectly with our challenge, since Easter is the Sunday before we head to DR. Thanks Colleen & Brian for planning your wedding so perfectly. Oh, and thanks Jesus!
ReplyDeleteMelissa, I have found that it best for me to not make promises; however, I will keep it in mind.
ReplyDeleteRory, you can come by for a massage any time you like. The wedding is on Friday the 29th... i think around 4:30.... come by around 4:15 and join me while I slam a 7 gram rock.
Brian, you are hilarious. No, really.

ReplyDelete@Brian, you're an F-18 bro.
ReplyDelete@Colleen, I was thinking about the ice-water you're going to pour on lil'Brian. You may want to do that before the wedding in case that causes damage, I have a feeling that will void the warranty and you could be stuck with it.
@Ryan: Good call. Thanks for looking out. Thanks also for the Avett Bros. post. I might just have to break down and get their album.
ReplyDelete@Melissa: Thank you for also looking out.
To everyone: After my spa email the other day, Rory asked a good question about the spa credit we were all promised when we first learned about the bookings. I am writing JoAnne today and will hopefully have an answer for all of us who went through her. I'll email as soon as I hear how that will work. I'll also include in that email everyone's arrival and departure dates so that those of us interested in doing a group excursion can maybe try to settle on a day/idea or two. I know Kelly has already said she is planning to stay at the resort, so anyone not interested in excursions won't be left at the resort without a friend!
P.S. It looks like I'll be buried in the sand soon, thanks to Brian's stealth move last night. Way to go everyone! Melissa, sorry Kelly and I let you down!
ReplyDeleteOh well somebody had to lose. I probably won't be able to afford a message anyway, so a good sand exfoliating may just have to do. Sorry Melissa, Ca and I dropped the ball. I was planning to get up Saturday early but Grace had a bad dream and kept me up from 2-5am. I was pretty much worthless the rest of the day!
ReplyDeleteI am getting to the resort around 1pm on Thursday and leaving around 3pm Sunday. I am totally up for ziplining! I am in for sure for that. Otherwise you should be able to find me on the beach drunk! haha!
ReplyDeleteAlso I looked up the sunrise/sunset data and the sun rises about 6:15am and sets around 7pm every night. Hope everyone is an early bird!
