I ran for the first time outside today - it was in the high 40s - so nice! Although I forget how different it is to run outside and push a stroller with a toddler. Can I get some sympathy miles? Ha.ha.
ReplyDelete@Brian - we're thinking about doing a triathlon this summer - interested? We know you know how to do all 3 events :)....
@Jeanette - We're definitely in for the Tri, assuming you're speaking of the West Milton Tri at 8:00 am on June 18th, 2011. It will be a great post-wedding motivator for continuing training. Can you provide a link here for the event? I found online registration at

but it doesn't really explain the team rules. I know for Colleen and I we are both in for all three events, but I was thinking that you can also do teams that distribute the events, meaning if one person is not able to do a 5 mile run they don't have to, but they are still on a team that is participating. You've done this event several times, if you just know the rules can you try to summarize here if you can't find a link?
Nice work on the outdoor run.
Well..... we actually decided not to do that one this year b/c of logistics/costs with 2 kids and 2 dogs to find sitters for blah, blah... We are interested in swim, bike, run one. http://www.trifind.com/re_34047/IndianapolisSprintTriathlon1.html
ReplyDeleteRyan is up for the challenge of taking on you, Colleen, and myself (Team Awesome) in this race. You could swim, Colleen can bike or run and I'll do the other. Ryan would be doing all three. Thoughts?
Hey! I wanted to be called Team Awesome.
ReplyDeleteToday I did 4 sets of 29 jumping jacks! I know lame, right! But, I will do something different each day. Tomorrow I will do sit-ups.
ReplyDelete@Melissa: Not lame! Brian and I had a personal trainer last year who was a huge fan of jumping jacks, and they are seriously harder than I remember. I used to think they were fun!
ReplyDelete@Dunlaps and Brian: I suppose I am game for whatever is decided about the triathlon on June 18(though Brian was rumbling around last night something about maybe doing it by himself, too). I like the idea of something keeping us motivated after April, but I have no idea what I'm capable of for any of these events, especially with unknown terrain!
@Rory and Jeanette: Way to kick off the week!
ReplyDelete@Colleen - I had to get in some miles since I didn't know what the rest of the week would bring.
ReplyDelete@Rory- whoozers... putting in lots of time at the gym early this week.... good job.
@Watsons - There's a great urban race in Indy too you guys could check out. I'll doubt we'll do it, but it sounds like fun. http://www.greaturbanrace.com/ Maybe Colleen and I can team up against the individual boys. The swim makes me nervous, but I do want to do one sometime this summer....
I know we said that this was on the honor system, so I'm hoping everyone trusts my judgment today. Work was canceled for the second day in a row because of the ice (yay!), and I cleaned for four solid hours. Not every single moment of those hours should be considered exercise, of course, but I definitely broke a sweat doing things like vacuuming the stairs, mopping the kitchen floor on my hands and knees, and cleaning the kitchen cabinets! So I'm counting 4 miles total for today. If anyone disputes this, let me know, but I think 1 hr is fair. :)
ReplyDeleteWednesday I did my 4 sets of 29 sit ups. Thursday I did 4 sets of 29 tricep extensions. I know that isn't really calesthenics, but it is needed and is usually done in sets!
ReplyDelete@Colleen - can you come clean our house? you count however many miles you want :)
ReplyDelete@Colleen - do you have OCD issues, or does Brian require a lot of cleaning?
ReplyDeleteKim and I started the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred workout this evening! WOW EE!! Very simple workouts, high reps, low weight, very fast-paced. Great workout if you only have 20 minutes!! We finished about 30 minutes ago and my muscles are still quivering!
ReplyDelete@Melissa - Nice work on all the 4-29 workouts. I still haven't done any for the week... I have a few more hours.
ReplyDelete@Ryan - 2.5 hours of Colleen's cleaning was the mess I left in the toilet after tacos.
ReplyDeleteWell... I didn't reach my goal this week. I did not do any weight lifting. I did do a 7 mile run today instead of my planned 6 miles. Not that I couldn't have found other ways to get my workouts in, but the gym was closed 2 nights this week due to weather.
ReplyDelete@Jeanette - I'm not sure what happened on Thursday. I did a 4 mile run and 1 mile walking for 5 miles total. I don't remember logging it, and Colleen said she didn't so it must have been me. How should I correct the entry? Should I enter Thursdays workout again and have you delete one of them?
ReplyDeleteThis has been an excellent week altogether. I have met my goals -- no fried foods at all (that means french fries, tortilla chips and even those delicious crispy won-ton things they put on Asian salads) and I biked at the gym 3 times this week for a total of 22 miles on the bike. I have completed 2 of the 4 sets of excercises, but I will do the other 2 tonight at home, I swear. I can't do jumping jacks because I live on the 2 floor and I think my downstairs neighbor will get pissed. So sit-ups it is! The other good news this week -- I finally weighed myself and since I started this on 1/11, I have lost 18 lbs! So thanks to everybody, because I know I wouldn't be at the gym at 8 am on a Saturday if it weren't for this challenge.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank God the fried food thing is over because tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday and diet be dammed, I want some nachos! Go Steelers!
WOW Rory!! 18 pounds that is GREAT!!! Yeah, the girls I run with asked me how many sports bras I had to wear to jumping jacks!!! haha
ReplyDelete@Brian -
ReplyDeleteI can delete one if needed. Just remind me in about a week. I probably won't get to it today.
@Rory - AWESOME!
Yay Rory! That is so freaking awesome. Seriously.
ReplyDelete@Melissa: Did you walk for an hour on Thursday this week? If you did, I think you might have accidentally put Brian down instead of your name. That's my best guess for what happened. For now, the totals will reflect that, so Jeanette, if Melissa confirms this and whenever you get time, maybe just switch B-Wats's name to Melissa's for the walking on Thursday. I'll enter Brian's now according to his post above.
So i changed the 1 hour walk to Melissa. If that's not right let me know. Keep up keeping up on exercising :)
