  1. Alright, I'm doing it.

    Most miles this week

  2. I did spin class this morning for 45 minutes, figuring 16 mph average speed gives 12 miles. Does that seem reasonable to everyone?

  3. Yep, Ryan. That's seems right to me. You need more pressure against your gauntlet, but unfortunately, Mr. Watson, who normally loves a challenge, put off taking a 4-hr-long driving safety course that was assigned as penalty for his two speeding tickets in Kentucky in one year. He left only tonight and last night to take it, so his exercise has been a little MIA! Perhaps tomorrow he'll show up!

  4. Ryan, at this rate you may achieve most miles by stopping now and relaxing the rest of the week.

  5. Ryan, I think you should push to break 40 miles for the week. I'm going to devote some serious time tonight and tomorrow night to achieve near 40 for the week. Let's see what you got... You're half way there already.

  6. Thanks for the moto Brian.
I think I'll break 40 tomorrow. 50 is possible but I really need to get an extra gym trip in to get there since I will be picking up Ian Friday night and watching him solo till Sunday.

The record is 55, correct me if I'm wrong, held by BTW. Can I get there? Will the king be unseated? Stay tuned to find out.

  7. @Rory: 10 miles on Sunday again--I like your style! Way to kick off the week!

@Ryan: FYI, I might be to blame if BWats doesn't meet his goal. We're leaving for WV on Friday, and he (forgot he) promised he'd help me with some housework and other things before we leave. We're going to try to fit in at least the minimum, but let it be known--this queen is holding back her king this week because sh** needs to get done! If his record is in danger of being overtaken, though, fury will be unleashed next week, I'm sure!!

  8. It's hard for me to pass up the chance to make Brian brutalize himself. After spin and some running this morning I'm at 42. 14 to go to unseat the champ.

  9. Colleen's not holding me back... I did some cleaning and still busted out 20 miles last night. I'll be back in the gym tonight. Will it be 20miles, 30 miles, 35 miles, or 37 miles? How did you put it... Stay tuned to find out.

  10. Ryan, I guess your new target should be 60 miles. If you're spinning, you should just shoot for an extra 15 minutes and get another 4-5 miles.

  11. @Ryan - Because you posed the question the other day about 45 minutes being good for 12 miles, I am curious; does your spin bike not indicate distance? If not, I would have to say that the workout I did last night was aerobically similar to a spin class. I did 20 miles in an hour and two minutes. This in my opinion would qualify your 45 minute spin workout to be 16 miles (unless of course the machine indicates actual distance based on RPM and assumed wheel size; then your distance is your distance)

  12. @Colleen: 2 = 5; therefore, your distance is your distance.

  13. It seems that my editing power has gone away. I was going to edit everyone's totals above, and I can't anymore.

@Ryan, any idea what's going on here? With Jeanette out and my editing capabilities gone, we're without an updater! By the way, it's freaking hard to keep this up to date. Thanks to Jeanette for doing such an awesome job along the way!

  14. Nevermind. They magically apppeared as soon as I signed back in. Perhaps Ryan was using Jedi mind control over me so that I didn't enter Brian's new mileage!

  15. Spin bikes do not indicate distance, or anything for that matter. I wanted to make sure my estimate was reasonably close to what outdoor cycling is like. I don't think I could keep up a pace of 20 mph for 45 minutes on the road with no peloton.
Also Spin is a group exercise and class is 45 min. You should try it, really gets a sweat going.
These aren't the droids you're looking for.

  16. I was pedaling like a mofo for the entire hour to get the 20 miles in. Yeah stationary, while not simple, isn't the same as being outside. If you throw in some mondo 1% grades my 20 miles would likely drop to 3 mph.

I'm usually about a hundred meters ahead of the peloton. That's how I "roll."

I'll go with what Vader said to Obi-wan...
"Your powers are weak, old man."

  17. @Brian, ha I forgot about that. I remember when we would ride with Scott and drop you on the slightest hill.

  18. I've dropped a few pounds since those days... I may not be able to speed past, but hopefully I could keep up.

  19. I forgot to mention earlier... I did some spin classes a long time ago. They were no joke. I walked funny for a couple days afterward. I've since become familiar with padded shorts, which I should start wearing for these sessions at the gym.

  20. Gym this morning, 45 minutes of weights followed by 5 mile stationary bike.
I've got a workout partner and we're really pushing each other on these weights. At this rate I'm going to be ripped by the time we get to DR.

  21. Ryan, are you working out with Hanz or Franz?

Seriously, nice work. I need to start on the weights soon.

  22. Did you notice we are now in 900s! miles to go!! Great job this week. Hopefully everyone is working hard at trying to drown in their own sweat. I didn't get any miles logged this week, but I did get some good ab workouts carrying 2 babies and repeatedly stepping over baby gates. Ha.ha. Next week will probably be a little slow for me too, but I should get some mileage in. And of course Ryan chose this week to be it his goal to log most miles when I can't challenge him...Ha.ha. I probably wont' be able to post until Monday again so make sure you think of goals for this upcoming week and post if you want!

  23. Sorry everyone! Brian and I went to WV this weekend (where internet's a rarity in them backwoods hills), and I didn't get a chance to update anything. Jeanette's a much more reliable administrator than I am! I'll try to catch things up today during lunch.
